What you'll do:

As the Industrial Engineer for and (Shyft Group brands) based at our manufacturing facility in Waterville, ME, you will enjoy planning and designing manufacturing plant floor layouts to properly locate and co-ordinate equipment and material for efficient production.

You will focus heavily on optimizing the plant's manufacturing production and troubleshooting problems and actively participate in GEMBA walks on a daily basis. You will also design solutions to solve manufacturing issues and develop and implement process improvements in partnership with Operations.

Relocation assistance to the Waterville, ME area is available for non-local candidates.

You will also:

  • Define manufacturing BOM's to align process routings with internal customers
  • Facilitate the PLEX ERP implementation
  • Design conceptual layouts for new products and processes
  • Enhance existing products through the design of facilities and processes
  • Provide manufacturing technical support for production operations in the areas of tooling and fixturing
  • Carry out manufacturing process troubleshooting
  • Investigate new manufacturing technologies, methods, and processes to improve existing operations
  • Utilize Lean and line-balancing strategies to enhance safety and quality metrics while reducing operational costs
  • Monitor and justify estimated budgets and ROI
  • Actively participate and contribute to daily production meetings
  • Ensure safety, 5S, and VC metrics are met
  • Investigate problems, identify root-cause, and implement corrective and preventative actions
  • Partner cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Production, Materials, and Purchasing teams to resolve issues

What you need to be successful:

What you need to be successful

  • Five or more (5+) manufacturing engineering expertise in a low-volume/high-variation manufacturing operation
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Hands-on skills with CAD systems (SolidWorks and AutoCAD are preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Project, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Hands-on engineering skills and familiarity with production equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineer, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineer, or a related field
