Summary:
Product Development and Engineering SKF America is an organization of more than 50 highly skilled people developing and testing specific bearings for global markets mainly served from American operations. As part of the SKF Portfolio, we develop the Kaydon Branded products, MRC products, Agriculture related products in collaboration with the regional value chain, respecting global standards. We are now looking for our new Product Development and Engineering Manager,

Thin Section Ball Bearing:
Thin section bearings are designed to save weight, use less space, reduce friction, increase design flexibility and provide high running accuracy. They are presented under the Kaydon brand and have a long heritage of successfully meeting some of the most challenging application requirements in a range of industries. They are extensively used in the Semiconductor industries for their accuracy and landed on Mars as well. You could lead the next challenge.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of product engineers and development experts.
  • Develop and drive a product development roadmap coping with the SKF group strategy.
  • Govern the execution of the roadmap by a permanent conversation with all stakeholders of the value chain; plants, industries served, sales, purchasing.
  • Execute product development projects on time and within budget.
  • Develop the Intellectual Property portfolio and enable competition analysis.
  • Support the daily business in the field of product engineering, Request for Quotation, Technical Error Request, Management of Change, Temporary Deviation or concession.
  • Monitor and reinforce the equilibrium between long term product development and short term product engineering.
  • Actively maintain and foster the customer relationship thru the sales organization.
  • Own and maintain all tools specific to our PDE portfolio.
  • Drive integration of the SKF digital tools and infrastructure in the ways of working.
  • Collaborate and transition the application engineering responsibility, historically handled by this team, to the SKF application engineering community.
  • Build partnership with the SKF technology development knowledge and resources.
  • Ability to lead and develop a team of engineers through mentorship, training, succession planning and career development.
  • Nourish and foster a diversity culture; thru an active use of our SKF core values; courage, curiosity, collaboration and care.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of product development processes between Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 and 9.
  • Project management experience and product road mapping.
  • Proven experience and success in managing people and stakeholders' expectations.
  • Experience in Innovation, from enabling invention down to successful launch of products.
  • Ability to drive change initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills.
  • Experience in an international management context.
  • Manufacturing process knowledge and PLM knowledge are considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of Bearings is desired.
  • Travel 10%
